Steel Planks

Ringlock steel planks, also called scaffold boards, walkway platforms, or steel decks, provide safe and durable working surfaces on ringlock scaffolding systems. Our galvanized steel scaffold planks feature a perforated anti-slip surface pattern that provides secure footing even in wet, muddy, or icy conditions. The integrated hook-on ends allow for fast, tool-free attachment to ringlock ledgers, while built-in side clips prevent longitudinal movement during worker traffic and material handling.

As a professional steel plank manufacturer based in Nanjing, China, LuckyScaffolding produces scaffold planks in standard widths of 210mm, 225mm, 240mm, and 250mm, with lengths from 1.0 meter to 3.0 meters. The plank body is formed from Q235 structural steel plate in 1.2mm thickness for standard duty or 1.5mm thickness for heavy-duty applications. All planks are hot dip galvanized to ISO 1461 for 20+ years of corrosion resistance.

Our steel scaffold planks are used by construction contractors, scaffold rental companies, shipyards, power plants, and industrial facilities worldwide. They are compatible with all major ringlock systems including Layher Allround, Peri Up, and MJ. We also supply aluminum planks and composite planks with plywood tops for applications requiring lighter weight or warmer walking surfaces.

Standard-duty planks support 200kg/m² uniformly distributed load. Heavy-duty planks support 300kg/m². Both ratings include appropriate safety factors per EN 12810.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the safe working load of your steel scaffold planks?

Our standard-duty planks with 1.2mm plate thickness support 200kg/m² uniformly distributed load. Heavy-duty planks with 1.5mm plate support 300kg/m². Both values include safety factors as required by EN 12810. For point loads or concentrated loads, please consult our engineering team.

Can I get scaffold planks with wooden or plywood tops?

Yes, we offer composite planks that combine a galvanized steel frame with a plywood or timber top surface. These are popular for applications where workers prefer a warmer, less slippery walking surface, or where electrical insulation is required.

Do steel planks come with toe boards included?

Toe boards are separate accessories that clip onto the ledger below the plank. They are not attached to the plank itself. We supply matching toe boards in the same lengths as our planks (1.0m to 3.0m) with hook-on attachment.

Are your steel planks compatible with cuplock and kwikstage systems?

Our standard planks are designed for ringlock systems with hook-on ends. For cuplock or kwikstage systems, we can supply planks with different end fittings — including cup-lock transom ends or kwikstage wedge ends. Please specify your system type when ordering.

What is the lifespan of galvanized steel planks?

With proper 80um hot dip galvanizing, our steel planks last 20+ years in normal outdoor conditions. The perforated anti-slip pattern actually helps prevent wear by distributing foot traffic across the surface. In marine environments, the 100um coating option is recommended.

Can I get aluminum planks instead of steel?

Yes, we supply aluminum scaffold planks for applications where weight is critical, such as high-rise facade access or manual handling situations. Aluminum planks are approximately 60% lighter than steel but have a lower load capacity. Please contact us for aluminum plank specifications.

How many planks do I need per platform level?

For a standard 2.5m bay, you need two 1.25m planks or one 2.5m plank per level. Planks should be overlapped by at least 50mm at supports. For a complete material take-off, send us your scaffold layout and we will calculate exact quantities.
